Inspired by the book The Soul’s Code by James Hillman, this piece explores his “Acorn Theory,” which suggests that each person’s unique potential—or “daimon”—is present from birth, like an acorn destined to become an oak. The life events we experience, both good and bad, shape our growth and serve our daimon’s development.
Recommended by my therapist, this book offered me a new way to see my own path. As a science geek, I noticed the cardboard forms resembled a graph: time along the X-axis and the soul’s wisdom along the Y-axis. The gray, cement-like shapes represent challenges that test your growth, but when nurtured, your daimon ultimately prevails. Your story is singular—let your light grow and shine.
